So I’ve decided to write this food blog because I can. I’m
calling it “SW Florida Food Porn” because that just sounds way cool. What, you
may ask, are my qualifications? Do I cook, have any culinary training, am I a
lifelong student of food?
Nah. I do like to eat though. And later I intend to work the
words “chocolatier and artisanal” into a sentence. In my mind that qualifies as
expert. So I’m going with that. Is this going to be a balanced look at the food
scene in SW Florida? Of course not, why would I do that? I’m gonna write about
food I like. This is my blog, you want balanced write your own blog.
I’ve lived in SW Florida for over three decades and I gotta
tell you I’ve found all kinds of food I like, this area is a food Mecca, if Mecca
was in SW Florida. We’re blessed with great restaurants, dynamic delis,
artisanal bakeries, food festivals, America’s best cheesecake, and a world
renowned chocalatier. And that’s just the start. Since it’s almost impossible to
keep up with it by myself, I’m gonna need some help from you guys. You are welcome to write me and tell me about your
favorite SW Florida Food Porn.
So what is food porn?
I don’t know, but I know it when I see it.
It might be easier to tell you what isn’t food porn. If it’s
green, if it’s healthy, if it’s found within a hundred feet of a salad bar, if
it’s dainty, it’s not likely to be food porn. For example, broccoli is NEVER
food porn.
Who determines what is or isn’t food porn?
Me.
So I encourage you to send me suggestions, pictures , even
recipes, but if it doesn’t speak to me, it isn’t food porn and it’s not making
it into this blog. Those are just the rules.
